CayMAS Carnival is the Cayman Islands’ second official carnival, providing travelers to the islands a chance to experience a Caribbean carnival twice in the year. This year’s event is scheduled for June 26th to July 1st, coinciding with the Cayman Islands Constitution Day celebrations. Expect to be partying with lively locals and experience an electrifying blend of vibrant parades, Caribbean music, and mouthwatering regional fare.
The festivities kick off on Wednesday, June 26th, with electrifying beach parties lined up throughout the islands and setting the tone for the exhilarating days ahead. Local and international DJs will keep revelers on their sandy toes with an intoxicating mix of soca and Caribbean beats as they soak up the sun and the promise of carnival magic.
The height of CayMAS comes in the form of the Grand Parade which will be happening on the 29th of June. A spectacle of creativity and cultural expression, paraders don elaborate costumes adorned with feathers, sequins, and beads, designed by some of the best mas bands on the island. Visitors can opt to join one of the bands, called “jumping,” and experience dancing along the streets of Grand Cayman to soca and calypso.
Each band brings its unique flair and style to the streets so revelers can choose which band reflects their style and carnival costume fantasies best. Some bands also offer access to drinks and touch-up stations throughout the parade route, providing refreshments and intoxicating cocktails to help freshen up revelers throughout the sizzling parade. The parade ends at the Caymans’ famous Seven Mile Beach where paraders can enjoy “aftermas” parties on the sand.
Beyond the Parades
While the revelry is at the core of CayMAS, the experience extends beyond the parades and parties. Take time to explore the island’s pristine beaches, indulge in world-class diving excursions, or delve into the rich cultural heritage of the Cayman Islands. CayMAS Carnival 2024 promises an unforgettable escape, a chance to lose yourself in the infectious rhythm of the Caribbean and create memories that will last a lifetime.
